Methods for calculating ballistic behavior of hybrid propellant combinations; effects of scaling, pressure level, and internal geometric configuration are examined, using machine analysis that is based upon heat-transfer-limited theory; crucial aspect of efficient hybrid grain design is proper matching of surface area progressivity to regression rate-mass flux dependence; interaction between convective and radiative modes of heat transfer and general aspects of throttling are also considered; regimes of operation where heat-transfer-limited theory begins to break down are delineated.
