Description of application of process, which can be carried out on permanent way with minimum of equipment, does not require interruption of traffic, and allows welded joints to be obtained having limit of resistance of order of 15.87 tons per sq in.; "Secheron" joint can be welded by means of d-c or a-c of either 50 or 16 2/3 cycles; results achieved on Zug-Baar section of Swiss Federal Railways.
