Primary electric power supply on cars, constructed by Budd Co, consists of 20-25-kw axle generators equipped with positive drive and clutch; for standby yard or station operation, 25-hp 220-v, 3-phase a-c motors are built in same frame as generators; power during non-generating time on road is supplied on coaches and baggage dormitory cars by Edison 88-cell A12H batteries and on diners and tavern observation cars by Edison 88-cell A14Hs.
