Effects that glare from headlights of opposing vehicle in relation to lateral separations on meeting drivers are discussed; in study 1, both opposing glare car and target were stationary; test subject drove toward target and indicated when he could detect it; in study 2, both target and test subject were stationary and glare car moved toward test subject; locations of glare car were determined at which target was just visible to test subject; in study 3, self-luminous target was used and both target and test subject were stationary as glare car moved toward subject.
