Results of study by Standard Oil Co and Ethyl Corp to determine feasibility of "road blending number" for gasoline component; 80 blends were formulated from 4 components and road rated in two 1959 cars; ratings were obtained under maximum knock operating conditions by Modified Uniontown and Modified Borderline techniques; data were evaluated by regression analysis to correlate fuel properties with component blending behavior and road octane number of finished blends.
