Illustrated description of 70-ton triple hopper cars built of aluminum alloys by American Car and Foundry Co for Missouri Pacific Railroad; weight saving of about 13,000 lb per car, as compared with AAR standard 70-ton steel hopper car, is utilized to increase payload 6 1/2 tons, this being accomplished by adding 39 1/4 in. to length of car and increasing its cubic capacity 240 cu ft; weights and dimensions of car given.
