Vessel mounting novel design of caisson diving bell has been put into service on Rhine; equipment was developed by Orenstein- Koppel and Luebecker Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft in cooperation with River and Shipping Authority, Duisburg, and Marine Standardization Office, Hamburg; diving equipment consists principally of diving bell, access shaft, and airlock; length of ship on water line 47 m, beam 11.40 m, freeboard 2.80 m, draft about 1.60 m; it is powered by 2 Voith-Schneider propellers, each driven by 280 hp, 1500 rpm Deutz diesel engine.
