Entry vehicles designed for operation in relatively low density level of Mars atmosphere are examined for aerothermoelastic problems; such vehicles tend to be large, bluff, light weight structures which are necessarily quite flexible; results indicate that use of normal Earth -- entry vehicle design practices, as applied to Mars ballistic entry vehicles, leads to structures for which no severe aerothermoelastic problems are expected.
