Idealized problems were studied to consider effect of type of road system on nature of traffic problem in towns; calculations were made for case where destinations are evenly distributed over central area and for case in which number of destinations within any circular cordon is proportional to radius of that cordon; example of method analyzes data for London; among other conclusions, calculations suggest that it might be possible for everybody working in central area of fairly large town with density of workers similar to that of Central London to travel to work by car.
