Kenny, built by Staten Island plant of United Drydocks, Inc; length oa 185 ft; breadth 43 ft; propelled by two 6-cyl 4-cycle, airless-injection Winton Diesel engines; claimed to be first self-propelled vessel constructed by patented reverse-channel method; advantages lie in greater hull rigidity, reduced building costs by elimination of riveting; increased cubic capacity; decreased hull weight and greater speed in building.
