Purpose of model investigation was to determine efficacy of proposed breakwater system in providing haven of refuge and protection for pleasure craft and fishing boats in harbor during storm-wave action; it was concluded that proposed breakwater system, consisting of 1305-ft long, dogleg-aligned north breakwater in combination with 861-ft-long companion south breakwater that would form 200-ft-wide navigation entrance leading into mouth of Galien River, would provide desired protection for harbor and would, over long term, be more economical than other less expensive (initial cost) plans that met wave-height criteria for plan acceptability.
