Leading engineering features are production of electric power at 3300 volts, between phases, by means of three-phase, 25-cycle, turbine-driven alternators, raised to 20,000 volts by static transformers, its transmission at this pressure to substations where it is converted to 1500 volts direct current, and supply to trains at this pressure by means of overhead contact wire.
