New theoretical model is presented for sublimation of graphite at hypersonic flight speeds; aerothermochemical interactions between dissociated air and graphite are treated by means of nine-component model, including O, O2, N, N2, CO, CO2, C, C3, and CN; mass-transfer rate, heat-transfer rate, and skin-friction coefficient are determined numerically and correlated by means of algebraic equations as function of stagnation pressure, stagnation enthalpy, and wall temperature in high-Reynolds-number stagnation-point flow regime.
