Description of parachute and tests made for equipping airplane with mechanically-released built-in parachutes to be used in case of emergency; second rib in each half of wing replaced with heavy plywood to take all compression of strain of two ribs with general use; steel rib placed in center section of two-half wings and whole compartment floored with plywood; to load parachute into compartment, it was folded on top of its connecting cables in center of carrier which was then placed on top of springs.
