Loss of life in crash landings, or "ditching," of aircraft at sea and on land can be and is being reduced; in order to accomplish significant results, airplane and its human cargo should be considered as a unit; successful cooperation between surgeons and engineers leads to exchange of techniques known as biomechanics; unified plan to reduce human breakage by increase of structural protection is under way.
