New 112-lb rail section, designed to obtain greater torsional and flexural rigidity, and to bring about more uniform distribution of stress throughout section under all conditions of loading, is being laid in two sections of track on Chicago, Burlington and Quincy; details of rail section, known as torsion-resisting (TR) rail, which can be rolled in weights comparable to present Am Ry Eng Assn designs.
