Rapid balloon-tire tread wear depends on tread profile; pressure and movement; increased inflation pressures and scientifically designed tread will reduce rapidity of wear; increasing number of plies in tire increases ease of entry of puncturing object into tread, but decreases probability of complete penetration and actual deflation from puncture; volume of noise in closed cars is no greater with balloon than with high-pressure tires; balloon tires are not fundamental cause of shimmying.
