Program carried out to minimize amount of manufacturing dirt, by adopting manufacturing methods for fuel system components and by establishing rigid fuel tank specifications; efforts to prevent dirt from entering components affected by dirt particles, by developing better filtration methods, and to make components more tolerant of dirt by carburetor design refinements such as use of viton-tipped needles, rubber valves and resilient seat assemblies; results obtained.
