Irish national air lines, owned by Irish Government, are two legal entities-Aer Lingus, which operates services within Ireland and east of Ireland, and Aerlinte Eireann, which operates trans-Atlantic services; development and organization of operations research in Aer Lingus are described together with some of studies which have been undertaken by operations research; they relate to technical inventory control, fleet simulations, real time computer system, manpower planning, fleet planning, traffic forecasting, pilot training policy, air hostess recruitment, and capacity of passenger handling facilities.
