Describes overhead system of electric traction installed for trial purposes on stretch of Marne-Rhine Canal; it consists of electric tractor working on aerial cable; adhesion of tractor is made to vary with load on tow rope; it requires practically no attention, does not obstruct tow path and it requires no special driver, being operated directly by bargeman, merely by exerting tension on tow rope.
