As result of technological investigations carried out at three major marshaling yards in East Germany, data were obtained concerning type and frequency of irregularities and their correlation with total number of cars dealt with; results are intended to indicate those irregularities which must be taken into account in automating working of marshaling yards, and possibilities of eliminating such irregularities by operating or structural measures. Translated from Deutsche Eisenbahntechnik, Jan 1967.
