Paper provides some quantitative data on surface regions of celestial bodies (especially earth, moon, and Mars) visible from space near these bodies, and discusses various optical, atmospheric and physiological conditions which influence visibility; question of how much of planetary atmosphere can be seen from altitudes in low and medium satellite range is examined and what details on planet's surface can be perceived and discerned from space with naked eye.
