Study of effect of heavier front end loads on steering efforts with center point shows that hand wheel torques remain high despite improvements in ratio and efficiency of steering gears and that center point axle designs do not have great effect in reducing static steering efforts; with regard to dynamic steering efforts, torque increases proportionately with load, velocity and angle of turn; center point axle designs reduce wheel efforts for moving vehicles.
