New weather and oceanographic vessels, Vancouver and Quadra, were built by Burrard Dry Dock Co, Ltd, and are for duty in Pacific Ocean; Vancouver length oa is 404 ft 3 in., molded breadth 50 ft, molded depth to upper deck 30 ft 6 in., loaded draft 17 ft 6 in., displacement 5600 tons; instruments for meteorological, telecommunications and oceanographic equipment are located in four laboratories; turboelectric propulsion machinery is installed.
