AbstractJapanese Earth Resources Satellite-1 (JERS-1) is the first satellite which has the sensors both optical (OPS) and a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) on board. OPS consists of VNIR with 3 bands in visible-near infrared regions and 1 band for stereoscopic view from the same orbit and SWIR with 4 bands in short wavelength infrared region. JERS-1 SAR is a L-band HH. Mounted with a mission data recorder (MDR). JERS-1 has the capability for the global coverage. Obtained data up to now are as expected for SAR and VNIR including the stereoscopic function, whereas there are some problems in the data of SWIR and the investigation for the causes and the countermeasures is in progress.
