This railroad maintenance assistance system comprises a processor and a storage unit. For each of a plurality of pieces of railroad equipment, the processor estimates and stores, in the storage unit, a deterioration prediction model which is used in predicting the deterioration of the piece of railroad equipment and which uses as an explanatory variable a maintenance accuracy, which is information relating to the accuracy of maintenance of the piece of railroad equipment and is obtained by converting sensing data acquired from a sensor device of the piece of railroad equipment. In the estimation of a deterioration prediction model, the processor performs processing to estimate a deterioration prediction model for a second piece of railroad equipment, which includes, in the explanatory variables, a deterioration prediction by a deterioration prediction model for a first piece of railroad equipment which has already been estimated and stored in the storage unit. The processor outputs an overall maintenance cost due to maintenance on the basis of deterioration predictions of the deterioration prediction models for the railroad equipment pieces.
