The invention relates to an electrical control device and a control method for monitoring a traction motor and a braking resistor. Due to the use of an electrical air duct control device at present, the control effect is unreliable, mis-operation is easily caused, and the use effect can be affected. The electrical control device for monitoring the traction motor and the braking resistor comprises a shell (1), wherein the shell is connected with an upper cover (2) and a lower cover (3) respectively through bolts; the lower cover is connected with a transmission device (16) and a valve body (12) respectively; the valve body is connected with a bracket assembly (10); one side of the bracket assembly is connected with a travel switch (9), and the other side of the bracket assembly is connected with a tension spring (14); the bracket assembly, the travel switch and the tension spring are arranged in the upper cover; a hole is formed in the side surface of the shell; a rubber ring (4) is mounted in the hole. The invention discloses the electrical control device for monitoring the traction motor and the braking resistor.
