The invention relates to a method of detecting a steering angular velocity of a vehicle. The method comprises the steps: choosing a static object as a target object; confirming the initial driving direction of the vehicle; enabling the vehicle to pass two testing positions in sequence, measuring corresponding position information of the vehicle with the target object at two testing positions by radar, and finally, calculating the steering angular velocity of the vehicle. In the method, only the on-board radar of the vehicle is utilized and no extra acceleration sensor is arranged additionally, so that the cost is saved. On the premise that the cost of the system is not increased, the steering angular velocity of the vehicle is calculated by using the relative position information with the target object acquired by the on-board radar at twice; the calculation method is simple, convenient and accurate.
