The invention discloses an overspeed catcher for a large-dip angle aerial passenger device steel wire rope and belongs to a mining device. The overspeed catcher comprises an aerial passenger device steel wire rope, a hook, a pendulum, a riding wheel-pendulum bob assembly, a slider, a connecting rod, upper and lower wedge blocks, a slide rail, a travel switch, a small riding wheel and the like. During normal operation, the connecting rod is hooked by the hook, a certain gap is formed between the positions of the upper and lower wedge blocks and the aerial passenger device steel wire rope, the riding wheel-pendulum bob assembly runs at a low speed, the amplitude of swing of the pendulum is small, a lug on the pendulum is prevented from contacting with the hook, the positions of the upper and lower wedge blocks are kept unchanged, and the upper and lower springs are compressed to allow the aerial passenger device to pass through. When the aerial passenger device steel wire rope is broken or overspeed, the rotating speed of the riding wheel-pendulum bob assembly is increased, the pendulum swings by a large amplitude, the lug on the pendulum comes into contact with the hook and then contacts with the travel switch to realize opening of a main circuit, and meanwhile, the hook is separated from the connecting rod, the upper and lower springs are stretched to push the upper and lower wedge blocks to slide, and therefore, the steel wire rope can be caught immediately.
