The invention relates to a rail car axle box rear cover structure, an axle box and an axle box mounting method. The axle box comprises a front cover, a box body, a rear cover, a bearing and a location node. An axle hole is formed in the center of the rear cover, mounting holes for fixing and mounting are formed in the rear cover, and the rear cover is formed by opposite snapping fixed connection of a first rear cover body and a second rear cover body. The rear cover is in a split structure, the rear cover is formed by fixed connection of the first rear cover body and the second rear cover body which are in opposite snapping connection, and accordingly, assembly and disassembly during maintenance are facilitated, time and labor are saved, and the work efficiency can be improved greatly.
