The invention relates to a road surface detecting method. The road surface detecting method comprises the steps that road conditions are obtained through high-frequency electromagnetic distance measurement; whether vehicles can pass under the road conditions or not is judged; alarm signals are output if the road conditions are not suitable for allowing the vehicles to pass; if the road conditions are suitable for allowing the vehicles to pass, active suspensions are adjusted according to the road conditions, and the road conditions are obtained by repeatedly utilizing high-frequency electromagnetic distance measurement. The invention further provides a road surface detecting system. According to the road surface detecting method and system, the road conditions are obtained through high-frequency electromagnetic distance measurement, the influence of environment factors is lowered, high reliability and large accuracy are achieved, the active suspensions can be adjusted according to the road conditions, and the comfort and safety of the vehicles can be improved to a greater degree.
