A navigation apparatus used in an electric vehicle is provided with: a position acquisition unit (31) that successively acquires the current location of the electric vehicle; a display control unit (40) that causes an electronic map to be displayed on a display device; a cruise range calculation unit (35) that calculates a cruise range of the electric vehicle; a predicted cruise range calculation unit (37) that calculates a predicted cruise range of the electric vehicle on the basis of the cruise range; and an advance degree calculation unit (37) that calculates the degree of increase or decrease of the cruise range with respect to the predicted cruise range. The cruise range is at least one of cruise distance and cruise time that the vehicle can run on the remaining amount of charge in a drive battery. The display control unit (40) causes a fan-shaped optical trace shape to be displayed on the electronic map in such a manner as to spread in the direction of movement from the current location of the electric vehicle as a base point. The length of the displayed optical trace shape along the direction of movement is varied in accordance with the degree of increase or decrease of the cruise range to the extent that the optical trace shape is located within the screen of the display device at all times, regardless of the scale of the electronic map.
