A torsional vibration absorber 10 for a universal shaft is used for fixing a hub (12) on a shaft and has a freewheel ring (14) which is coaxial to the hub (12) and defines an annular ring gap (15) with the hub. The hub (12) and the freewheel ring (14) are connected via connecting members (16) made from an elastomeric material and arranged on the circumferential direction (U) in a staggered manner. Each connecting member (16) has a bead-shaped middle portion, which is connected to the freewheel ring (14) and to the hub (12) via thin webs.
