The invention discloses a novel elevator balance counterweight. The novel elevator balance counterweight comprises a counterweight support and a counterweight block; the counterweight support comprises a left straight beam, a right straight beam, an upper transverse beam and a lower transverse beam, and is perpendicularly arranged; the novel elevator balance counterweight further comprises a base plate and a pressing plate, wherein the base plate is arranged on the lower transverse beam. The counterweight block comprises a first mass block and a second mass block which are different in density, and the first mass block and the second mass block are arranged on the counterweight base plate and are fixed through the detachable pressing plate; the total gravity center of the counterweight support and the counterweight block is located on a hanging center face of a counterweight diversion sheave. According to the novel elevator balance counterweight, the structure of the counterweight block is newly designed, and the first mass block and the second mass block which are material combinations with different densities and are in the design of the asymmetric boundary dimension are adopted; the structure installation process of the counterweight is basically the same as the structure installation process of a traditional counterweight, and the single counterweight block can be carried and installed more conveniently; by means of the mixed counterweight block made of different materials, the material cost can be effectively reduced; the boundary dimension is asymmetric, and the well using rate can be improved.
