What is proposed is: a battery cell, in particular a lithium-ion battery cell, in which a coil element, two current collectors and electrolyte are accommodated in a housing. The housing comprises a container and a cover arrangement. The cover arrangement comprises, inter alia,a cover plate which is fixedly connected to the container once internal components of the battery cell have been introduced. In accordance with the invention, a filling opening (25) is provided in the cover plate (23), through which filling opening electrolyte can be introduced into the interior of the housing and which is closed by means of a rivet (31).
