In this elevator system, an elevator car (2) is arranged such that it can move along at least two guide rails (7), and said elevator car (2) is equipped with a pair of catch devices (10) and an actuator (8) for actuating the catch device (10). The catch device (10) for braking an elevator car (2) comprises at least one brake eccentric (15) that has a cylindrical bearing bore (16), a brake housing (17), and a bearing axle (18) for accommodating said brake eccentric (15). The bearing axle (18) is arranged, together with the brake eccentric (15), in the brake housing such that it can pivot or be displaced so that the brake eccentric (15) arranged on the bearing axle (18) can be held in a first position at a distance from the brake-connecting part and in a second position can be brought into contact with the brake-connecting part (7a).
