The invention provides a method and system for controlling the switching-on threshold value and the switching-off threshold value of a brake vacuum pump. The method comprises an information acquiring step and a threshold value setting step. According to the information acquiring step, at least the current vehicle speed information and brake information are acquired. According to the threshold setting step, the switching-on threshold value and the switching-off threshold value of the vacuum pump are set respectively at least according to the speed of a vehicle and the magnitude of brake signals through the current vehicle speed information and the brake information, and the working time of the vacuum pump is reduced under the premise that the braking safety is guaranteed. According to the method and system, the switching-on threshold value and the switching-off threshold value of the vacuum pump can be set according to the current vehicle speed information and the brake information, so that the various working conditions of the vehicle in the traveling process are fully considered; under the premise that the brake safety is absolutely guaranteed, the working time of the vacuum pump can be reduced to the greatest extent, the probability of breakdowns due to long-time working of the vacuum pump is lowered, and the service life of the vacuum pump is effectively prolonged.
