The invention relates to a two-main-machine synchronous drive elevator. Two traction machines and two guide wheels are fixed to a machine room shelf beam. Car devices are connected with car guiding devices in a matched mode. Counterweight devices and counterweight guiding devices are connected in a matched and guided mode. The front and back portions on the top of each car device are each provided with a pair of car diversion sheaves. Two counterweight diversion sheaves are arranged on the tops of the counterweight devices. One end of a steel wire rope is fixed to one side of the machine room shelf beam. The other end of the steel wire rope sequentially passes through one counterweight diversion sheave on the counterweight devices, the first traction machine, the two car diversion sheaves on the front portion of the car devices, the two guide wheels on the machine room shelf beam, the two car diversion sheaves on the rear portions of the car devices, the second traction machine and the other counterweight diversion sheave on the counterweight devices and then is fixed to the other side of the machine room shelf beam. Two traction systems are connected in series through one steel wire rope to achieve two-main-machine synchronous drive. Due to the fact that the two traction systems drive the front portions and the rear portions of the cars respectively, the phenomenon that the cars are inclined due to unbalance loading after the elevator is started is avoided during unbalance loading.
