The invention provides a mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device comprising a housing, and a main pulley, a first rope, a friction block, an elastic element, a third rope, a fixed friction wheel, a movable friction wheel, a secondary pulley, as well as a second rope that are arranged inside the housing. In the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device, a rope or other substitution is hung on a high point, without requiring the rope to be strictly tensioned into a linear state or requiring two ends of the rope to be at the same height; and the vertical plane below the rope is the working area of the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device. Through controllable friction and self-locking, the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device is used for quickly and roughly adjusting the position of a target object on the vertical plane; and the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device is applicable to occasions such as assembling machinery, drying clothes, and hanging potted landscapes. With the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device, the defects of requiring modification to a house structure, being higher in cost, requiring extra electric power, or the like, in an electric adjusting device are remedied; and accordingly, the mechanical vertical plane position adjusting device is applicable to private factories of small-scale workshop style or home use.
