The invention relates to a dual-mode wedge for a bogie damping device. The dual-mode wedge is characterized by comprising a wedge body; the top surface and the bottom surface of the wedge body are parallel with each other; two cavities used for containing first springs are formed in the wedge body, two through holes are formed in the bottom surface of the wedge body, and each through hole right faces one cavity; and a round navel used for installing a second spring is arranged in the middle of the bottom surface of the wedge body. Due to the fact that the first springs having a certain pre-compression amount can be arranged in the two cavities respectively, and meanwhile the second spring is arranged at the bottom, the dual-mode wedge can provide larger damping force unrelated to the dead weight of a wagon body when a wagon is empty, and also can provide corresponding damping force along with increasing of the load weight of the wagon; and in other words, the dual-mode wedge can play a role of a constant-friction damping device and a role of a variable-friction damping device at the same time.
