The invention discloses a method and device for controlling telescoping speed of a single cylinder latch type telescopic arm and a crane, and relates to the field of engineering machinery. The method comprises: obtaining the telescoping length when the telescopic arm telescopes automatically; calculating based on the change of the telescoping length to obtain the present telescoping speed of the telescopic arm; determining whether the present telescoping speed is as same as the preset telescoping speed; adjusting a variable pump to control electric current until the present telescoping speed is as same as the preset telescoping speed when the present telescoping speed is inconformity with the preset telescoping speed. The embodiments in the invention overcome the disadvantage of unstable telescoping speed of the telescopic arm, and improve the security and stability of the telescopic arm in telescoping process.
