The invention relates to a monitoring system of a gantry crane. Cameras and ultrasonic probes are simultaneously disposed on a pedestal in two side directions of displacement along a track respectively, and the pedestal is also equipped with electric control cabinets including ultrasonic distance detection devices, speech synthesis devices and power supplies. The power supplies supply power to the cameras, the ultrasonic distance detection devices, the speech synthesis devices and the ultrasonic probes. The driving cab is internally provided with a plurality of displays and loudspeakers. The video signals collected by the cameras and the audio signals generated by the speech synthesis devices are transmitted to the displays and loudspeakers respectively. The monitoring system provided by the invention can effectively eliminate the blind spot vision at the roots of stand columns, directly reflects the crane pedestal position and the front state in the traveling direction. When no intrusive object exists in a sensitive area, no alarm prompt tone is made, and when an object intrudes into the sensitive scope, the loudspeakers make alarm prompts to a driver.
