The invention discloses a hybrid power system for electric vehicles, and relates to the field of power units for the electric vehicles. The hybrid power system is provided so as to solve the problems that an electric vehicle battery is short in service life, small in effective capacity, short in endurance distance and high in replacement cost. In a whole vehicle, a power assisting system and an electrodynamic system are in series connection, or parallel connection, or series-parallel connection, wherein the electrodynamic system can store energy for the power assisting system; when running with large power, the whole vehicle is driven by the power assisting system only or by both of the power assisting system and the electrodynamic system; kinetic brake energy can be collected and stored in the power assisting system and the electrodynamic system; the power assisting system is a hydraulic power assisting system or a pneumatic power assisting system. When the discharging quantity of a battery of the electrodynamic system reaches a limited value or an undervoltage point, the power assisting system supplies assistance power. The power assisting system can drive an accessory system and a mechanical brake system, and the power assisting system and the electrodynamic system can share one electric controller and one motor. The hybrid power system can be used on the electric vehicles at a low cost. Through the adoption of the hybrid power system, the working region of the battery can be optimized, so that the battery discharges stably, the discharging capacity of the battery is increased, the service life of the battery is prolonged by times, the replacement cost of the battery is reduced, the power performance of the whole vehicle is improved, the kinetic energy recovery efficiency of the whole vehicle is improved, and the endurance mileage of the whole vehicle is increased; therefore, the vehicle with the hybrid power system meets high requirements from users.
