The invention discloses a motor train unit traction system and an energy control method. The traction system comprises a high-speed circuit breaker, a main/auxiliary inverter, a high-voltage detection box and a transmission control unit. The high-speed circuit breaker is connected with a power supply network; the main/auxiliary inverter is connected with the high-speed circuit breaker through a middle direct-current circuit and used for inverting direct current supplied by the power supply network into alternating current and outputting the alternating current; the high-voltage detection box is connected with the power supply network and used for detecting voltage of the power supply network; the transmission control unit judges whether the voltage of the power supply network is normal or not based on the detection result of the high-voltage detection box, the high-speed circuit breaker is disconnected when the voltage of the power supply network is too high, and overvoltage protection is performed on the main/auxiliary inverter. The traction system can be applied under the condition that the voltage fluctuation range of the power supply network is large, the design scheme that a main inverter and an auxiliary inverter are integrated is adopted, a system circuit is simplified, and product cost and the fault rate are reduced.
