The invention discloses a measurement method for a braking force of an elevator brake. The measurement method comprises the following steps of firstly, releasing all brakes, controlling a traction motor to positioned at zero speed in a no-working state, and measuring current of the traction motor; secondly, calculating an unbalanced force between the elevator car and a counterweight according to a measured current value; thirdly, calculating an output force which is required for driving the traction motor and is used for measuring all or part of braking force according to all or part of measured and required braking force of the brake and the calculated unbalanced force; fourthly, enabling internal contracting brake of the brake to drive the traction motor by using the output force; fifthly, detecting whether the elevator car moves or not; if the movement of the elevator car is detected, judging the determined braking force of the brake to be insufficient. According to the measurement method disclosed by the invention, the measurement accuracy of the elevator braking force can be guaranteed to the maximum extent; in addition, no matter the elevator is positioned in any state, the detection of the braking force can be performed, and a detection function of the elevator braking force is enabled to be performed at fixed time.
