The invention relates to a speed control system with a direct gear transmission and a belt continuously variable transmission. At present, the speed of scooters can be changed conveniently and easily, the transmission efficiency of a V-belt continuously variable transmission system employed by the scooters is only approximately 80%, and travelling oil consumption is increased, with respect to the speed control system with a direct gear, based on a belt continuously variable transmission system, a direct gear converter clutch is arranged, and therefore the direct gear transmission is increased. During the travelling process, after the scooter reaches a starting speed through the belt continuously variable transmission, the driver only needs to step on a gear-shift pedal, the rotation of the belt continuously variable transmission system can be stopped, the scooter is changed into a direct gear transmission driving state, travelling oil consumption is correspondingly reduced, and the problem that the belt is fractured during a long-distance travelling process is avoided; when the reduced speed cannot be maintained through the direct gear, the scooter can return to a belt continuously variable transmission state through manual control or automatic electric control conveniently; when the speed is increased, the driver can step on the gear-shift pedal again, and the scooter can enter the direct gear transmission state.
