The invention provides vehicle brake parachute braking equipment and a braking method thereof, and relates to the field of vehicle braking. The brake parachute braking equipment comprises a brake parachute, a gas generator, a parachute gun and a rope winder, the parachute gun is cylindrical, the brake parachute is compressed into a parachute pack, the gas generator is wrapped in the parachute pack, and a spring device used for popping up the parachute pack is installed in the parachute gun. The umbrella gun and the spring device are controlled to be started through an electric control unit; the rope winder is arranged at the bottom of the parachute gun and connected with the brake parachute through a rope; and the vehicle brake parachute braking equipment further comprises a service braking system and a vehicle distance sensor installed at the front end of the vehicle. When the service braking function is limited and vehicle collision cannot be avoided, the equipment provides nearby braking force to reduce the possibility of vehicle collision.
