The invention relates to a segment overturning tongue-and-groove protection method. The method is based on a tongue-and-groove protection device. The tongue-and-groove protection device comprises clamping components and a protection component, wherein the protection component is fixed to one sides of the clamping components, and the protection component is a tubular curved surface. Each clamping component comprises a clamping body, a seat plate and a clamping rod, wherein the section of the clamping body is in an L shape, the seat plate is vertically fixed to one side of the clamping body, theseat plate is parallel to the other side of the clamping body, a clamping opening is formed between the seat plate and the clamping body, and the clamping rod penetrates through the seat plate in a threaded connection manner. The tongue-and-groove protection device is installed at the tongue-and-groove position of a segment, and a hoisting rope is laid along the surface of the protection component. The problems of tongue-and-groove protection, assembly and disassembly efficiency and the like of segment overturning are solved, meanwhile, the hoisting steel wire rope is effectively protected against damage by the edge of the tongue-and-groove, segment precision control is facilitated, and the safety of hoisting operation is improved.
