A safety device (150) suitable for a steering station (11) of an elevator system (100). The safety device (150) comprises at least one first blocking position (101) for preventing entry of the elevator car (10) into the steering station (11) by means of a first mechanical device (30), where the first mechanical device (30) is arranged to change its position in response to operation of the steering station (11), and at least one second blocking position (102) for preventing entry of the elevator car (10) into the steering station (11) by means of a second mechanical device (30), where the second mechanical device (30) is arranged to change its position in response to operation of the steering station (11). The device is used for preventing the elevator car (10) from leaving the steering station (11) through the second mechanical device (20).
