The method comprises the following steps: S1, acquiring pictures or videos in all directions of a traffic intersection through a camera; s2, acquiring passing vehicles in a plurality of directions at a certain moment in the current turn of traffic light time by analyzing the pictures or videos; and S3, calculating the display time of the red light and the green light in each direction in the next turn of traffic light time according to the proportion of the passing vehicles in the multiple directions and the total time, and controlling the display of the red light and the green light according to the display time of the red light and the green light. According to the adjusting method, the traffic light time can be automatically and reasonably distributed, the passing rate of vehicles is increased, and the waiting time of the vehicles is shortened.
